Starcraft Universe

scgalaxy

Over the years, many stories have unfolded in the StarCraft universe. Here in the Galaxy Archives we’re taking a few brief glimpses at the books that depict many of these epic StarCraft adventures.

In this edition we curl up on the sofa with Aaron Rosenberg’s StarCraft: Queen of Blades, and join good ol’ Jim Raynor on a journey into the heart of the ashen planet Char.

Queen of Blades takes place six weeks after the events of the Liberty’s Crusade novel, where thanks to a series of mysterious lucid dreams, Jim and his army land on the hostile planet of Char. Driven by the belief that he can rescue Sarah Kerrigan from the clutches of the Swarm, Jim leads his men deep beneath the surface of the ashen planet. With success but a hair’s breadth away, Raynor watches his world crumble as Kerrigan, infused with malice and vengeance, emerges from her chrysalis as the menacing Queen of Blades.

After a cruel battle from which only Raynor and a handful of his people escape, our hero struggles to keep pace with the tumultuous events surrounding the Queen of Blades’ birth: Engross yourself in the rebellions within the Zerg, Jim Raynor’s struggle to survive in a savage world, and the arrival of the Protoss, ready to continue their eternal fight against the Zerg.

Raynor crosses paths with Executor Tassadar, leader of the first Protoss group dispatched to Char. The Dark Templar Zeratul soon joins the fray, but his is a more dark and mysterious mission…
